Terms and conditions

Netball Now – Terms & Conditions

1. Participation, Safety & Conduct

  • 1.1 Minimum Age: The standard minimum age for participation is 16 years old.

  • 1.2 Junior Players (Ages 14–15): Players aged 14 and 15 may participate only if a parent or legal guardian is present at the venue for the duration of the session/match. The parent/guardian remains responsible for the minor at all times.

  • 1.3 Zero Tolerance Policy: Netball Now operates a strict zero-tolerance policy toward the verbal or physical abuse of umpires, staff, or fellow players. Any threatening, abusive, or discriminatory behavior will result in an immediate permanent ban.

  • 1.4 Umpire Authority: The umpire’s decision is final and must be respected at all times. Challenging an umpire’s decision in an unsporting manner may result in player suspension or removal from the league.

  • 1.5 Health & Risk: Participants acknowledge that netball is a physical sport and accept the associated risks. By playing, you warrant that you are physically fit to participate.

  • 1.6 Attire: For safety, nails must be short, jewelry removed, and appropriate sports footwear worn. Plain gloves and medical tape are permitted within reason. Fitness trackers or smartwatches may be worn only if they are completely covered by a protective fabric sweatband. Netball Now reserves the right to prevent participation if any attire, jewelry, or equipment is deemed unsafe by the official.

2. Match Logistics & Timing

  • 2.1 Arrival: Teams must arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled start time. Matches start promptly.

  • 2.2 Late Starts: If a team is late to the court, the match will proceed, but the total game time will be reduced to ensure subsequent fixtures remain on schedule.

  • 2.3 Regular Time Slots: While specific match start times may vary week-to-week, all league games will always take place within the designated two-hour "regular time slot" for that specific venue and evening.

  • 2.4 The ‘Wildcard’ Rule: Where there is a space or an uneven number of teams in the league, Netball Now may operate a ‘Wildcard’ team.

    • Member Opportunity: Existing members may be invited to play a second game for the Wildcard team at no extra cost.

    • Scoring: The team playing against the Wildcard team will automatically be awarded a 21-0 win to maintain league standings and fairness.

3. Registration & Membership Fees (Averaged Flat-Rate Subscription)

  • 3.1 The Contract: Netball Now is a membership-only, subscription-based service. By signing up, you enter into a rolling monthly contract.

  • 3.2 Signup & Pro-Rata Billing: To secure your place, a £5 non-refundable registration fee and a pro-rata membership payment for the current month are required at signup. This covers administrative onboarding and reserves your spot on a team.

  • 3.3 Continuous Flat-Rate Billing: Following your initial signup, a recurring monthly membership fee is required. Netball Now operates a year-round, flat-rate subscription model. This fee pays for your ongoing team placement, league administration, and overhead costs.

  • 3.4 Pricing Continuity: Because our operational and venue commitments remain fixed year-round, monthly fees are averaged across a 12-month period. Monthly subscription costs remain completely unchanged and are fully due during months containing Bank Holidays, scheduled league breaks, holiday periods, or disrupted weeks. This includes seasonal venue adaptations; for example, where an indoor sports hall becomes temporarily unavailable due to school exams, maintenance, or polling, and matches are moved to the venue's outdoor courts, membership fees remain fully payable at the standard flat rate.

4. Cancellation & The "Following-Month" Policy

  • 4.1 Standard Notice: After the initial 14-Day Happiness Guarantee period (Section 11) has expired, players must provide notice before their next billing cycle to cancel their subscription.

  • 4.2 Following-Month Cancellation: Netball Now operates a following-month paid cancellation policy. Upon requesting a cancellation, your next upcoming monthly payment will be your final payment. Your membership will remain fully active so you can play out that entire final month, after which your subscription will stop and no further fees will be taken. Cash refunds are not issued for mid-month cancellations.

  • 4.3 Termination for Conduct: If a player is removed from the league for bad behavior or breach of conduct, the standard cancellation policy still applies, and no refunds will be issued.

  • 4.4 How to Cancel: Cancellations must be submitted via the member portal or email to info@netballnow.co.uk.

  • 4.5 Team Reliance: Netball Now contracts are held with individual players, not whole teams. If your team struggles with player availability, gets injured, or decides to fold mid-season, your individual rolling contract and notice period remain fully active. You are expected to utilize our sub system or communicate with league managers to find replacement players; a team dropping out does not instantly void individual payment obligations.

5. Payment & Non-Payment

  • 5.1 Automated Billing: Fees must be paid in full via our designated automated system (Magic Sports App).

  • 5.2 Failed Payments: If a payment fails, your membership and league participation will be suspended immediately until the balance is cleared.

6. Injury & Membership Freezing

  • 6.1 Eligibility: Memberships may only be frozen for verified medical injuries preventing play for 2+ consecutive weeks. Memberships cannot be paused or frozen for holiday periods, summer availability, or general non-attendance.

  • 6.2 Process: Freeze requests must be submitted in writing. We reserve the right to request proof (e.g., a GP/Physio note).

  • 6.3 Limits: Players may freeze once per calendar year for a maximum of two consecutive months.

7. League Continuity, Venue & Session Disruptions

  • 7.1 Session Adaptation: Netball Now reserves the right to organize training sessions, masterclasses, or skills clinics if full team numbers cannot be achieved for a specific fixture. No refunds or credits apply for non-attendance.

  • 7.2 Venue Changes: Netball Now reserves the right to move matches to an alternative suitable venue within a reasonable radius of the original location if required.

  • 7.3 Venue Cancellations: In the rare event that a venue provider enforces an unexpected cancellation (e.g., due to their own facility or staffing constraints), Netball Now will absorb the administrative burden and work to secure a catch-up session or alternative fixture later in the year where scheduling allows. Because monthly fees are a flat-rate subscription to hold your permanent place in the league, manual cash refunds or invoice credits are not issued for single venue-enforced disruptions.

  • 7.4 Material Breach Safeguard: In accordance with the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, if Netball Now is completely unable to provide any netball fixtures or alternative sessions for a continuous period exceeding four (4) consecutive weeks due to total venue loss, members will be entitled to pause their subscription penalty-free or receive a pro-rata credit for the duration of the prolonged outage. This ensures a fair balance of service.

8. Liability, Insurance & Property

  • 8.1 Limitation of Liability: Netball Now is not liable for personal injury or lost/damaged property at venues, except where caused by our direct negligence.

  • 8.2 Personal Insurance: Players are strongly encouraged to hold their own personal accident or injury insurance.

  • 8.3 Equipment: Members are responsible for returning any equipment or branded bibs provided for their use. Failure to return bibs may result in a replacement fee.

9. Media & Data Protection (GDPR)

  • 9.1 Photography & Video: By participating, you consent to photos/videos being taken for Netball Now’s social media, website, and marketing. To opt-out, you must notify the organizer in writing in advance.

  • 9.2 Privacy: Personal information is stored in accordance with UK GDPR and used strictly for league administration.

10. Force Majeure & Weather Cancellations

  • 10.1 Weather Disruption: Player safety is paramount. Sessions cancelled by Netball Now due to adverse weather, unsafe court conditions, or other unexpected "Acts of God" are an inherent risk of year-round sports.

  • 10.2 No Financial Adjustments: In cases of weather-enforced cancellations, Netball Now reserves the right to pause or amend the schedule. Because subscription fees are calculated as an annual average, no cash refunds, discounts, or next-month invoice credits will be issued for weather-disrupted weeks.

1. The "14-Day Happiness Guarantee"

  • 11.1 Guarantee Period: New members have a brand guarantee to cancel this contract within 14 days of their initial signup.

  • 11.2 Trialing the League: By completing registration, you expressly request that your membership services begin immediately so you can play your first game.

  • 11.3 Cancellation Request: If you exercise this guarantee and message us to cancel within the 14-day window, you will not be charged the following month's fee. The initial £5 registration fee and the pro-rata payment for the days the account was live are non-refundable to cover immediate venue and official costs incurred.

12. Amendments

  • 12.1 Netball Now reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Members will be informed of significant changes in advance.
